Kailash pilgrim laid to rest at native village

The body of former headmaster, Ramachandran (67), who died in Kailash two days ago while on a pilgrimage, was laid to rest at Andipatti, near here on Friday.

On June 18, he went to Nepal with his wife, Nagarathnam, and six others. Many pilgrims were stranded after inclement weather in the region.

Ramachandran reportedly suffered heart attack and doctors at the Kathmandu government hospital declared him brought dead. On information, the couple’s relatives rushed to Kathmandu and received the body after post-mortem was conducted.

Following representations made to District Collector Pallavi Baldev, the State government and the Ministry of External Affairs took steps to bring back the body home.

Theni Lok Sabha MP Parthiban and Andipatti MLA and AMMK leader Thanga Tamilselvan joined the villagers and others in paying their respects to the body.
