Four arrested

The Puttur Rural police on Monday arrested four persons from Kasaragod in Kerala for alleged illegal transportation of cattle in Paduvanoor village in Dakshina Kannada.

According to a press release, the police stopped the vehicle that was carrying three head of cattle in an inhuman manner. They were being taken to abbatoir in Kerala. The driver of the vehicle did not have any documents permitting transportation of the cattle.

The police identified the accused as Kunhikanna, 40; Abdul Khader, 53; Udaykumra, 63; and Harish Kumar, 35. The Mangaluru Rural police arrested Mohammed Mustafa of Malluru for this alleged involvement in two cases of cattle thefts. The police said Mustafa was among the accused allegedly involved in theft of cattle in Malluru village on November 18, 2017. He was reportedly at large following the theft.
