The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), which closed the investigation into the death of Tiruchengode DSP Vishnu Priya, was directed by the special court here on Thursday to furnish a copy of its report to the officer’s father M. Ravi.
The Chief Judicial Magistrate Court in Coimbatore, which handles CBI cases, directed the agency to give a copy of its closure report to Mr. Ravi, after it allegedly gave the copy of a report of the CB-CID that initially investigated the case.
The CBI had filed a final report before the court in May 2018, dropping further action in the case by stating that the DSP committed suicide.
Mr. Ravi later pleaded with the court for a copy of the CBI’s closure report.
‘Original not given’
When the case was heard on Thursday, Mr. Ravi’s counsel P.R. Arulmozhi submitted that her client was not served the original report by the CBI. Instead, it gave the old report submitted by the CB-CID.
Considering the plea of the counsel, Chief Judicial Magistrate S. Nagarajan directed the CBI to give a copy of the report to Mr. Ravi.
The court adjourned further hearing in the case to August 9.
