Blue Colts to spring into action

The city police have launched the Blue Colts wing here on Thursday. It would help improve the vigilance on the streets, said city Police Commissioner V. Ravinder.

Flagging off the two-wheelers of the Blue Colts, the Commissioner said the new police force will keep vigil round the clock and reach instantly to any spot of distress.

Whenever a citizen reports a crime either by calling 100 or by sending a message to the police WhatsApp, they would be the first to rush to the rescue of victims whether it is eve-teasing, chain-snatching, violence against women or road accidents. They will assess the situation and inform top officials for follow up orders.

A total of 220 police constables were assigned to the blue colts teams and 150 two-wheelers and ten petro cars were provided.

Apart from responding to citizens, the ‘Blue Colts’ teams also move in the colonies keeping a close watch on previous criminals to maintain communal harmony, Mr. Ravinder said.

To create awareness among the public about the Blue Colts, the teams held a two-wheeler rally from the police commissionerate to the MGM hospital and then back to Ambedkar centre, Nakkalagutta, Adalat, and Kazipet.
