The Palliyoda Seva Sanghom (PSS) and the Travancore Devaswom Board (TDB) have made elaborate arrangements for the smooth conduct of the annual season of Vallasadya offering at the centuries-old Sree Parthasarathy Temple at Aranmula that begins on Sunday.
Preparation of various dishes for the ritualistic feast, Vallasadya, began at the temple Oottupura on Saturday morning.
PSS president Krishnakumar B. Krishnveni lighted the lamp kept at the Oottupura, kitchen-cum-dining hall, on the temple premises with the flame brought from the sanctum sanctorum in the morning.
The chefs then transferred the fire to the hearths at the kitchen.
The atmosphere was charged with the rhythmic Vanchippatu, devotional songs in praise of Lord Parthasarathy.
TDB president A. Padmakunar will inaugurate the Vallasadya at the Aanakkottil in front of the holy temple mast in the presence of Nair Service Society president P.N. Narendranathan Nair at 11 a.m. on Sunday.
The crew of the snakeboats (palliyodams) belonging to the Maramon, Thekkemuri, and Koipram palliyoda karayogams will partake of the Vallasadya on the first day.
As many as 64 items will be served at the Vallasadya. These include different types of fried items and payasom.
The annual offering of Vallasadya at the Aranmula temple will come to a close on October 2 and devotees who wish to offer the ritualistic feast may make their bookings at the PSS office at the Panchajanyam auditorium on Temple Road at Aranmula.
