State Women’s Commission Chairperson M.C. Josephine has said that while the ruling of the Supreme Court on Thursday on Section 497 was about the equitable rights of both the man and woman straying out of a marital relationship, there was apprehension whether it would weaken the fabric of the family.
Family bonding was part of the cultural ethos in society, she told mediapersons after the mega adalat of the Women’s Commission held here on Thursday.
However, Ms. Josephine said that she welcomed the ruling of the apex court that categorically said, “the husband is not the master of his wife”.
