On the eve of completion of one year of the Goods and Services Tax (GST) regime, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) announced the launch of a GST Service Centre here on Saturday.
The party’s trade wing said each of the seven Lok Sabha constituencies in the Capital will have one centre depending on the success of the one being launched.
The AAP Trade Wing claimed that problems related to the nationwide tax regime were “not yet over completely” and that it sought to prepare, educate and assist traders through the service centre for free.
“The first GST Service Centre in Delhi will be opened in east Delhi’s Laxmi Nagar. It will start in the first week of July. Here, tax professionals such as chartered accountants and accountants will be appointed to advise traders on GST… and help them with matters related to registration, refunds and returns,” said AAP’s Delhi Trade Wing convener Brijesh Goyal.
Mr. Goyal said, “It has been a year since GST was implemented but there are still some issues related to it, due to which the business class faces various kinds of problems. Facilities at the GST Service Centre will be absolutely free,” he said.
Mr. Goyal added that the party’s trade wing has also proposed the launch of a helpline for traders to help solve their problems through a phone call. “If this service centre is successful, at least one centre will be opened in all Lok Sabha constituencies of Delhi,” he said.
