Woody Allen 'Wouldn't Bet' on Ronan Farrow Being His Biological Child in Rare Comment on Frank Sinatra Speculation

“I paid for child support for him for his whole childhood, and I don’t think that’s very fair if he’s not mine,” the famed filmmaker says in new interview.

Woody Allen wouldn’t gamble his life on Ronan Farrow being his biological child.

The famed filmmaker addressed the speculation that the son he shares with ex-partner Mia Farrow is actually Frank Sinatra’s love child.

"In my opinion, he’s my child. I think he is, but I wouldn’t bet my life on it," Allen said in a New York Magazine piece in which the director’s longtime wife, Soon-Yi Previn, speaks out for the first time about her unpleasant childhood with Mia, as well as her affair with Allen. The couple began their sexual relationship when she was 22 and he was still together with Mia.

Speculation is fueled by Ronan’s uncanny resemblance to the iconic singer, who Mia married at age 21, then divorced two years later. But in a 2013 Vanity Fair interview, she ramped up rumors by stating Ronan could "possibly" be her ex-husband’s biological father because they "never really split up." Mia and Sinatra remained friends until his death.

In his latest statement on the matter, Allen added, "I paid for child support for him for his whole childhood, and I don’t think that’s very fair if he’s not mine. Also she represented herself as a faithful person, and she certainly wasn’t. Whether she actually became pregnant in an affair she had…"

It’s not the first time Allen has commented on the possibility.

"Is he my son or, as Mia suggests, Frank Sinatra’s? Granted, he looks a lot like Frank with the blue eyes and facial features, but if so what does this say?" he wrote in a 2014 New York Times op-ed. "That all during the custody hearing Mia lied under oath and falsely represented Ronan as our son? Even if he is not Frank’s, the possibility she raises that he could be, indicates she was secretly intimate with him during our years. Not to mention all the money I paid for child support. Was I supporting Frank’s son?"

The point of the piece was to share his side of the story after his estranged adopted daughter Dylan Farrow came forward as an adult to allege she was molested by Allen, who maintains that Mia actually lied to Dylan about the abuse to strike back at Allen for his affair with Soon-Yi. "Again, I want to call attention to the integrity and honesty of a person who conducts her life like that," Allen concluded on the subject on Ronan’s parentage.

So far, Ronan has commented on the possibility of being Sinatra’s son only in jest. After Mia’s comment to Vanity Fair made headlines back in 2013, he tweeted, "Listen, we’re all possibly Frank Sinatra’s son."

Bill Maher cracked a joke about it while Ronan was appearing on "Real Time" this past April. "You’re doing amazing work on a number of fronts, you obviously have your mother’s incredible compassion and your father’s steely ambition – whoever that may be," he said.

Ronan simply laughed along and added, "He said it."
