Meghan Markle and Prince Harry welcomed Queen Elizabeth to their newly renovated Frogmore Cottage digs for a tour, People reported Tuesday, as royal baby fever intensifies.
The 93-year-old Queen, who had gifted the Duke and Duchess of Sussex the residence, is said to have made the roughly 20-mile trek from London to Windsor.
The quiet visit by Harry’s grandmother comes at the height of the royal baby watch, with Meghan expected to welcome the newest member of the British monarchy any day (though some fans think she’s already secretly given birth). Doria Ragland, the mother of the former “Suits” actress, has already arrived in the UK.
Meghan, 37, and Harry, 34, previously announced that they intend to keep details surrounding their first child’s birth private.
“The Duke and Duchess look forward to sharing the exciting news with everyone once they have had an opportunity to celebrate privately as a new family,” Kensington Palace said in a previous statement.
Meghan will also steer clear of the traditional photo op following Baby Sussex’s arrival, unlike in-laws Prince William and Kate Middleton, who introduced their children — Prince George, now 5, Princess Charlotte, now 3, and Prince Louis, now 1 — to the world on the steps of the famed Lindo Wing at St. Mary’s Hospital.
As for the newborn having a royal title, it remains to be seen if the Queen will give the go-ahead.
“All royal ranks are at the Queen’s discretion and Princess Anne set an interesting precedent by choosing to raise her children without any royal titles at all,” Patrick Jephson, former chief aide to Princess Diana, said previously. “[But] my guess is that Harry and Meghan’s child will already be a prince or princess by the time we see the first photo.
