New York University will confer an honorary doctorate to global superstar Taylor Swift.
Swift will receive a Doctor of Fine Arts, honoris causa degree along with NYU’s graduating class of 2022.
She will also deliver a speech at the school’s commencement ceremony on May 18 at Yankee Stadium.
It will be the University’s first commencement ceremony due to a two year break caused by the pandemic.
The 2020, 2021, and 2022 batches of graduates will be honored at the ceremony.
“Ms. Swift is one of the most prolific and celebrated artists of her generation,” NYU said in a statement about the artist, who has won eleven Grammy Awards and the Global Icon Award at the 2021 BRIT Awards.
The New York University’s Clive Davis Institute had launched a Swift-themed course.
This will be the first degree for Swift, who is a high school graduate.
