Sky News presenter Jacquie Beltrao marked three years post her cancer diagnosis with a trip to Brazil – a destination the broadcaster assumed she would never visit again.
Taking to Instagram today, the 57-year-old spoke candidly about her health and how she struggled to come to terms with her diagnosis after receiving a devastating blow when her cancer returned for a second time.
The presenter, who was first diagnosed with breast cancer in 2013, said when the cancer returned three years ago it was a difficult period and she was left in a state of “nervous panic”.
In view of her 27,000 followers, Jacquie penned: “Wasn’t sure if I’d make it 3 years post diagnosis but I have (well almost – May is my ‘cancerversary’).
“I never thought I’d get to Brazil again with @mreduardob but I did and we smashed it!”

Jacquie continued: “Thanks to @hellomag for covering my story of survival so far.
“I thought it was worth celebrating in a bit of style so we stayed at my dream hotel the @belmondcopacabanapalace for a couple of days while in Rio & at the @belmondhoteldascataratas at Iguacu Falls, where you can hear the falls from your bedroom, it was spectacular especially standing next to the waterfalls – pretty humbling.
“It gave me a lot of perspective – we are all only here for just a blink of an eye and to think about that was strangely quite calming.
“I spent the first six months of my diagnosis in a state of nervous panic, wondering if every sad piece of music I listened to would be nice for my funeral instead of thinking how much life I have left to live.”
She went on: “Hopefully that’s a lot, but who knows with this cancer malarkey – no one does. I have friends who were doing great… until they weren’t.
“So people go grab life, take those trips, meet those friends (oh and go for your breast screening).”
She finished: “Oh and to @breastcancernow for their research that discovered the drug Olaparib – which has been magical for me #threeyears.”
The Sky News presenter accompanied the post with an image from a photoshoot as she detailed opening up about her health in a new interview.
Jacquie was inundated with messages of support from celebrity pals in the comment section.
Ore Oduba penned: “Wonderful Jacquie.”
Kirsty Gallacher shared a series of heart emojis.
Jacquie had previously feared having just months to live after being told her stage-four cancer had spread to her legs and spine in 2021 – but it was revealed the tumours had vanished and there was “no evidence of cancer”.
Earlier this month, the former Olympic gymnast revealed she had “no evidence of disease” in her latest scan.
The smiling sports pundit shared a photo from the Sky News studios this morning, while holding up a piece of paper which read: “SCAN ALL CLEAR YAY!”
Jacquie captioned the post: “Got the best news last night another clear scan NED — no evidence of disease.
“Feeling incredibly lucky this morning. I won’t be scanned again for 6 months – that feels like a substantial gap. It’s b***** amazing that’s what it is. A massive team has got me to this point and I know very few of them.
“My oncologist, my surgeon, the nurses @parksideprivatehospital of course I know them all but what about the amazing research team who came up with my drug Olaparib ?
“I’ll never know them but I’m in their debt.”
