Robbie Williams has revealed plans to build a luxury hotel in Dubai after an encounter in a Las Vegas establishment made him ‘very angry’.
The former Take That singer, 49, told how plans are underway for the resort, which will feature a purpose-built venue for him.
He went on to explain that the idea came after he was charged $240 for a basic breakfast while staying at a hotel in Vegas.
During an appearance on Wondery’s Brydon & podcast, he said: ‘I’m building a hotel, 700 rooms in Dubai… I built a hotel in my head and I build what it looks like.
‘I was in the Wynn hotel in Vegas doing a residency. I remember waking up and being charged $240 for breakfast. And it was like two croissants, a bowl of bran flakes and a coffee and I was like, f**k off.

‘And I got really angry and then I was just like, I’ll build my own hotel. That was the thought from getting angry about this breakfast costing too much and I got angry about the mini bar where if you open it and you pick something up, it charges and I was like, f**k off. No.’
He added: ‘I then thought Dubai and then I thought, actually, there’s no residences for artists like me in Dubai. And then I thought, ah, that’s interesting, I’m going to do that. I’m going to start that.
‘So that sort of idea and that level of ambition, lights a fire underneath my a**e. That is my pottering. Because I don’t potter, so my version of that is creating. What can I do?
‘If I put my foot down on this car how fast does it go? So I dreamed this big, what happens if I dream even bigger? And at the end of that is money, but it’s not the primary driving force behind the reason to do it.’
He went on to say: ‘I’m not wasting any positive thought and I’m not wasting any creativity. Nothing gets lost. Otherwise, I spend an awful lot of time in negativity with poor mental health.
‘So I can either be over here in poor mental health or I can be over here creating things that light a fire under me, that keep me distracted from what is going on over there in the unpleasant land {where} I sit for 12 hours on a plane. But it gives me purpose.’
Opening up: Robbie claimed he’s going through the ‘manopause’ while candidly discussing his health struggles
Throwback: The singer revealed that years of partying has left him ‘f***ing knackered’ and battling ‘thinning hair’ (pictured in 1996)
It comes after Robbie claimed he’s going through the ‘manopause’ while candidly discussing his health struggles.
The singer revealed that years of partying has left him ‘f***ing knackered’ and battling ‘thinning hair’.
He told The Sun: ‘The hair is thinning, the testosterone has left the building, the serotonin is not really here and the dopamine said goodbye a long time ago.
‘I’ve used up all of the natural good stuff. I’ve got the manopause.’
Robbie and his wife Ayda Field have previously admitted they barely ever have sex.
He went on to say: ‘My daughter says to me, ‘Daddy’s lazy’. I don’t like the term ‘lazy’ as that’s how I was described when I was younger.
‘The reality is that I’m just f***ing knackered from what I did to myself in the Nineties and bits of the 2000s.’
Robbie previously blamed his lack of libido on coming off testosterone injections, which had been worsening his depression .
In a joint interview, the pair insisted they’re ‘on the same page’ when it comes to intimacy and are content with their lack of bedroom activity.
Robbie told The Sun : ‘E veryone knows there is no sex after marriage. That’s just the way it is. I was on testosterone for a while but, because I’m an addict, that had to stop. I got these massive square shoulders and started to look like a doorman. It wasn’t a good look.
‘There’s no sex after marriage!’ Robbie and his wife Ayda Field, 43, have admitted they barely EVER get intimate – but insisted they’re ‘happy’ with their lack of bedroom activity
‘But the sex we had when I was on testosterone was incredible; it was all the time. We were insatiable. It goes to show how into each other we really are, though, because when I was on it, we couldn’t take our hands off each other.
‘I miss that. That was a fun period. Sometimes now, though, Ayda will turn to me on the sofa and say, “We should do sex,” and I’m sitting there eating a tangerine and just sort of shrug. So, ya know, sometimes we try.’
The actress, 43, who married her popstar partner in 2010, concluded: ‘Intimacy is the important, meaningful side of love. We’re happy.’
