Red Hot Chili Peppers have announced that their second album of 2022, Return of the Dream Canteen, will arrive this October.
During the first show of their 2022 North American tour on Saturday, July 23, at Denver’s Empower Field at Mile High, frontman Anthony Kiedis announced that the band’s follow-up to this year’s Unlimited Love will drop on October 14. The album will be produced by Rick Rubin.
“Even though we put an album out four months ago, we have a brand new double album stacked to the brim,” bassist Flea added from the stage. “That’s two double f—ing albums.”
Unlimited Love peaked at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 albums chart with 97,500 album equivalent units, marking the band’s first LP to rule the chart since Stadium Arcadium in 2006.
