Madonna told fans she is not well during her live show in Belgium at the weekend, just seven days into her world tour.
The singer got emotional on stage as she reflected on her recent life-threatening health scare, which saw her hospitalised and having to postpone her gigs back in June.
Speaking to the crowd at her latest gig, the 65-year-old said: “I had this strange thought.
“I suddenly had sympathy and empathy for my mother about how lonely she must have felt in the hospital, knowing that she wasn’t going to live. And I was given another chance.”
Madonna went on to say she is “very grateful” to be alive but said she didn’t “feel very well right now”.

“But I can’t complain because I’m alive,” she added. “Thank God for my children and all of you, and all of your love and support. I really appreciate it.”
Just under four months ago, the Vogue hitmaker spent several days unconscious in intensive care with a bacterial infection and fighting for her life.
Addressing the worrying time, Madonna said it was a “f****** miracle” that she was alive.
She added: “My mother, God bless her, she must be watching over me, she said, ‘Girl, it’s not your time to go’.”
Madonna kicked off her Celebration tour in London earlier this month after cancelling the first leg in North America.

Speaking to the crowd, she said she “forgot five days” of her life and didn’t think she’d pull through.
“I woke up with all of my all of my children sitting around me,” Madonna added.
She continued: “If you want to know my secret, and you want to know how I pulled through and how I survive, I thought, ‘I’ve got to be there for my children. I have to survive for them’.”
After announcing she will be going ahead and doing her tour, a source said Madonna’s children were urging her to “pace” herself to avoid another health spiral.
A source told Heat magazine: “Lourdes and Rocco have said for years that Madonna is one step away from disaster with the way she punishes herself, going overboard with the surgery and generally trying to act like she’s still in her 20s.”
They went on to say her children are also telling her she “needs to change things”.
“It’s a serious intervention and they’re determined to see it all the way through,” the source said.
Madonna has six children in total; Lourdes, Rocco, David, Mercy, Stella and Estere.
