Love Island 2021 contestant Sharon Gaffka has revealed she plans to go back to her job in the civil service and would love to become the first Love Islander to go on to become an MP after she leaves the villa.

Speaking before she heads into the famous Mallorca house, Sharon told OK!: “It is in my long term plan to potentially be an MP, so it would be a first for the show if I was the first Love Island MP.”

Sharon confirmed she would return to her job, adding: “My intention post-Love Island is to return to my profession, yes.”

And when it came to how she’ll behave on the show, the former pageant star said she wasn’t worried. She explained, “There is that civil service conduct to be aware of, but it’s not something that’s massively unaligned from my own personal morals and code of conduct anyway.”

Sharon added that she wasn’t “nervous” or “concerned” that she would do something she she shouldn’t on screen.

And it turns out, Sharon’s colleagues were happy about her entering the villa. Sharon revealed she told her boss and another colleague that she would be going onto the show and they were excited for her.

She said: “They are really big fans of the show, so I think they were more excited about it than I am.”

Mixing Love Island and politics isn’t something we’ve heard of before, but Sharon insisted that she wanted to go on the show as she’s desperately trying to find love.

She explained, “Spending lockdown listening to my friends talk about baby planning and being one of the only single ones left in my group and absolutely hating apps, I was like I’m just going to take the plunge and see what happens after.”

Sharon said she wouldn’t shy away from talking about politics with her fellow contestants, but she didn’t expect them all to be clued up.

She explained: “Sometimes I find it really boring and dry and I don’t necessarily understand everything, so it’s really hard to be able to expect that from someone else.

“But I’ll definitely use it as a chance to educate and hopefully they can learn something from me as much as I can learn something from them.”

Sharon, who has been described as “intensely political” said she had no plans to have sex in the villa.

The former Miss International UK is used to being in the spotlight and kept her fans up to date on her Instagram – even saying she lost 10kg before entering the villa.
