Love Island’s Gemma Owen says she wants to be a billionaire like Kylie Jenner

Love Island hopeful Gemma Owen has expressed her desire to become a billionaire and businesswoman like reality star Kylie Jenner.

The 19 year old is due to enter this year’s sun soaked villa as she hopes to find love when the new series returns to our screens on Monday.

Yet love isn’t the only thing on Gemma’s mind as the star, who has already forged a successful career with Team GB as a dressage champion, has bigger ambitions as she hopes to enhance her career profile to match that of Kylie Jenner.

Gemma, who is the daughter of footballing legend Michael Owen, recently shared her aspirations during an interview with the Mirror and explained how she hopes her time in the villa will allow her to expand her current business selling swimwear.

Gemma said: “I would love to carry on with my business which I have just set up. It’s called OG Beachwear.

"I will be wearing a few bits in the villa, it’s a small collection at the moment.

“I really like the Kardashians, I watch them on telly and I follow them on social media.

“I think they are all good, powerful business women, what they have made for themselves is really inspiring, I’m a massive fan. Who wouldn’t like to be a billionaire like Kylie?”

Despite her enthusiasm for the show, her football star father isn’t too thrilled with her decision to appear on the popular dating show.

Speaking to Mail Online about her villa debut, Gemma said: "I still wouldn't say that my dad is buzzing about me doing Love Island."

Gemma, who is the eldest of four children Michael shares with childhood sweetheart Louise Bonsall, also revealed her mum isn’t entirely thrilled about the prospect either.

"I wouldn't say that they were 100 per cent happy with it, but I would definitely say they trust me… not to do anything to purposely disrespect them," Gemma added.

Gemma is just one of several lovelorn singletons in search of love taking part in this year’s hotly anticipated series of the popular dating show.

Set in the scenic hills of Mallorca, a new villa has been completely revamped for this year’s contestants, who include a microbiologist, fishmonger, paramedic, waitress and even a nanny.

The show is also breaking new ground this year by including its first ever deaf contestant.

But will they be lucky in love? Fans will have to tune in to find out.

Love Island returns to ITV2 at 9pm on Monday June 6th.
