Little Mix’s Leigh-Anne Pinnock froze her eggs aged 28 after worrying fertility discovery

Leigh-Anne Pinnock has opened up on her decision to freeze her eggs when she was only 28 years old, as she discovered that her chances of conceiving may not have been as sure as she'd initially thought.

The former Little Mix star shared all on her journey from being a singer, winning The X Factor, meeting her now-husband Andre Gray to having twins in a new interview.

The 32 year old explained that she'd been at the top of her career when she got pregnant, so as a result it wouldn't necessarily have been her choice to have children at that particular point in her life.

But the pop star decided to undergo some tests to find out the state of her fertility and if she needed to take precautions.

Unfortunately, Leigh-Anne was told some worrying news during one appointment, and it made her reevaluate her priorities.

"We were at the height of our career and everyone knew I wanted children, but I remember thinking to myself, 'I can’t have children now'," the singer said at the Glamour Woman of the Year cover shoot. The star also won the musician gong at the awards Tuesday night, 17 October.

"They told me I had a low egg count, which totally freaked me out," the star went on. "So, I started the process of freezing my eggs, just to be safe."

The process was tough both emotionally and physically, so Leigh-Anne decided to try for a family straight away instead.

Not long after, the star became pregnant with her twins, and the couple were over the moon.

Leigh-Anne and Andre now share two children aged two, but have decided to keep their privacy paramount.

The couple are keeping the toddlers' names and genders a secret until their older, when Leigh-Anne says they both feel the children can make their own decisions whether they want to be in the public eye.

It comes as Leigh-Anne also shared a massive hint that her footballer husband Andre may have cheated on her in the early days of their relationship.

Speaking to Glamour magazine, the star said: "I wanted to show that although things might look perfect from the exterior, that’s not always the case. We’ve been through so much to the point where we could’ve split up, but we got through it, and I truly believe we had to go through all that to be the strongest couple we could be."

The singer went on to say that she recalled Andre still had "a lot of growing up to do” and she believed he was affected by being in the football industry and the "environment" around that.

The star said that she found the stereotypes "quite true", adding: "I think people often think that if something bad happens in a relationship – if you get cheated on or whatever – that it’s automatically done, it’s over.

"And that’s fair enough. But in my case, I chose to work at it, and I am so happy that I did."
