Kerry Katona breaks down crying re-living ‘heavy’ trauma during audiobook recording

Kerry Katona has broken down crying after re-living "heavy" trauma in her life, whilst recording her audiobook.

The 42 year old former Atomic Kitten star took to Instagram to share a video where she could be seen sat in a studio after recording six chapters of her audiobook, Whole Again.

Dressed in a multicoloured hoodie with her hair in a ponytail and make-up free, Kerry could be seen wiping a tear from under her eye.

Speaking to the camera, she said: "Well, this has been a real, real…" as she trailed off to collect herself – her emotions clear to see.

Continuing, she said: "I have managed to do six chapters."

Holding back tears, she whispered: "It's been really tough. But I'm ready to go home and have a cry."

Pouting at the camera, Kerry admitted: "It's been really tough".

On her way to the recording studio, Kerry posted a selfie from the car and wrote: "On route to record my audiobook 'whole again' praying for strength to get me through this!!! Just reading it all out loud and reliving it has already had me in tears this morning!!

"I know it's in the past but the trauma attached to it is still so heavy on my heart and I'm my gut!! Live isn't always rainbows and unicorns we have to deal with things we don't like!

"But got to stare this s*** in the face and be done with it!!!! If my book helps even just one person it's all been worth it!!! Have a blessed day people.'"

Whole Again is Kerry's second autobiography, after her memoir Still Standing was released in 2012.

The new memoir will chronicle her life over the past ten years, which have been anything but smooth sailing.

In the past decade, Kerry, faced bankruptcy and a cancer scare, and also welcomed her fifth child.

She suffered domestic abuse at the hands of her ex-husband George Kay, the father of her youngest child, before he died in 2021.

Kerry has previously opened up about the abuse that she endured at the hands of George during their three-year marriage.

During an interview on Loose Women in October 2022, Kerry said: “My mum was waiting for the police to knock on the door and say he’d killed me."

She continued: "And what I struggle with is, George is dead, I have his little girl, and this isn’t about me badmouthing anybody because we all know how many times the police were called to my house."

She went on: "It’s so difficult because I remember at one time George was covering up my bruises and my mum was looking going, ‘What are those bruises from?’ and I said, ‘Oh it’s from having rough sex mum’ and [George] looked at my mum and she knew that he knew that she knew [what was really going on]."

Despite the hardships she went through, Kerry said she “wouldn’t change any of it” because she feels she is now "where I am supposed to be".
