Leon Hendrix, brother of rock icon Jimi Hendrix has been found in contempt of court for violating a permanent injunction against infringement of the late singer’s permanent trademarks.
The ruling was served by District Judge Paul Engelmayer of the Southern District of New York, who ordered Leon Hendrix, as well as his daughter, Tina Hendrix to recall and destroy all apparel and merchandise bearing any Jimi Hendrix name and to change the name of the pair’s tuition-free “Hendrix Music Academy.”
After the death of the singer, his father Al Hendrix “handpicked” several members of his family to assist him in managing the estate, which is now managed by his adopted daughter Janie Hendrix.
At the time of selecting the team, Al had “expressly excluded Leon Hendrix and his family from that management team,” reads the court papers.
