Hamilton stands there with his serious taxdodging but knighted face

It is only the second time this has happened since Formula One’s first season in 1950.

Branding it a “water-cooler event”, The Grand Tour host has weighed up the pair in his latest opinion-piece.

Jeremy did not hold back on sharing his thoughts on the duo, after being a fan of the spot since he was born.

The 61-year-old quipped that Lewis “is so hilariously on message, he’s off it”.

While the ex Top Gear star branded Max a “yob”, bringing up his father’s past conviction.

The broadcaster went on to share his thoughts on who could win the title, after the latter took pole position.

Writing in his Sunday Times column, Jeremy first took down Lewis, before gushing about him having an “edge”.

He stated: “He stands there with his serious taxdodging but knighted face telling everyone to cut their emissions, while circumnavigating the globe so that he can race a 1,000-horsepower car that was sponsored by the company that clad the tower at Grenfell.”

Jeremy then turned his attention to Max: “His dad, Jos, a Dutch racing driver from the 1990s, was convicted of threatening his wife and violating a restraining order.”

The outspoken television star went on: “They are both epic drivers, though. For what it’s worth, I think Max is probably better as a helmsman.

“He just seems to be able to get more out of the car than it is capable of delivering.”

The small screen regular said his qualifying lap in Saudi Arabia last weekend was “probably the best driving I’ve seen”.

However, Jeremy added: “But when it comes to wheel-to-wheel racing, Lewis probably has the edge.

“When the chips are down, he gets canny. He’s cleverer. More calculating. So we have a battle of maths versus violence.”

Lewis became a sir in the 2021 New Year Honours, after residing in Monaco for many years.

Due to this, the UK is missing out on millions with the Brit paying minimal tax in his homeland.

Four years ago Lewis felt the need to defend himself for living in a tax-free country.

He said: “I am contributing to the country [UK] and, not only that, I help keep a team of more than 1,000 people employed. I am part of a much bigger picture.”

Lewis has been very vocal about climate change while globe-trotting for his sport and travelling by private jet.

The team chief at Mercedes, with whom he drives for, Toto Wolff also previously apologised to Grenfell Tower families after the F1 outfit signed a deal with a firm behind some of the building’s insulation.

Kingspan’s K15 insulation was one of the products installed on the west London tower block during its refurbishment.
