The ‘Today’ host, who has returned to the show after testing negative for the virus, reveals that she had ‘real’ quality time with her young children as she spent ‘five or six days isolating with her family.’
AceShowbiz –Hoda Kotb has opened more about her isolation experience. The TV hostess, who already tested negative for COVID-19, revealed that her young daughters caught the virus before she tested positive when making her return on “Today“.
“So, it’s always good to get that swab. I did a rapid test before I came into work, and it was positive,” the 57-year-old TV personality recalled in the Monday, January 10 episode of the show. The broadcaster, who is both fully vaccinated and boosted, also said that she spent five or six days isolating with her family.
The mother of two shared that she was able to continue caring for her daughters 4-year-old Haley Joy and 2-year-old Hope Catherine because they had recently contracted the coronavirus themselves. “My kids have had it so a doctor was saying to me, ‘You have a two-year-old and a four-year-old. Where are you going to isolate? You have to take care of your kids,’ ” she told the audience.
“So he did say since they just had gotten over it that I’d be okay,” Hoda continued. The co-anchor went on telling Bush Hager that she “had some real family bonding time,” adding, “It’s just about rest and getting through it.” She also noted that she “actually felt really good throughout.”
Hoda then offered more details about her symptoms. She shared, “It’s so weird. I know a lot of people are getting these breakthrough COVID cases, and they’re happening right and left, but you know how you’re like I’m good.” She further explained, “I’m good. I have a tickle in my throat. It’s probably nothing.”
Hoda then stated that she took multiple tests, all of which were negative, before returning to the show following her isolation. “I tested negative on Saturday and Sunday and today, so I feel really good,” she detailed. “But you just like get through it. I feel like you keep hearing more and more about people who are getting it, and maybe that will lead to a bigger kind of immunity for everybody.”
Expressing her excitement to return to the TV show, Hoda took to Instagram on Monday morning to share a video of herself getting ready in her dressing room to announce that she’s back. “Okay, two negative tests. Back in the saddle. Time to fix the ‘do and find something to wear. Maybe that thing,” she told the viewers, before switching the camera to a navy dress that was hanging on her door. “Let’s try it. See you on TV.”
After testing positive for the deadly virus, Hoda shared her condition amid the isolation via Twitter. At the time, she tweeted, “Thx for well wishes! Feeling good.. [heart emoji]. Cant wait to see you all when I am in the clear! Xo.”
