Helen Skelton, 39, has shared an insight into her relationship with her children, sons Ernie, seven, Louis, five, and daughter, Elsie, 10 months, as she revealed their sleeping arrangements. In a new admission about her family life, the Strictly star said she paid her son £20 to convince him to sleep in his own room.

Speaking in a new interview, Helen explained that she still sleeps in the same bed as her children, who according to her are “terrible sleepers”.

So much so, that she has had to find a way to bribe her eldest son to get him to go to his own bed.

“Mine are terrible sleepers, they like to sleep in my bed which isn’t good, but then other people will be like ‘well that isn’t good?’

“Rather than ‘Oh that’s nice because they’ll be 18 soon!’ But it’s survival.

“I got my eldest to sleep in his own bed the other night and he was negotiating a deal and said he would for £20.”

The presenter quipped: “I was like – ‘I can’t give you £20 a night!’

“No wonder I’ve had to go back to work,” she concluded in an interview with The Mirror.

Helen’s home life suffered a huge change earlier this year following her split from rugby league star husband Richie Myler.

Her marriage ended nearly six months ago, and she recently discussed how she has dealt with the situation.

The star has moved to Cumbria from Leeds following the split, to her parent’s home, but she clarified she doesn’t see herself as the victim, and doesn’t view anything from a lens of self-pity.

“There’s loads of stuff to ask me about that’s really interesting, that’s not ‘Ohhh, poor you’.

“I don’t see myself as a victim, no, because I mean, look…

“There are a lot of people who have been in my situation who haven’t been given the opportunities that I’ve got.”

She conceded, however, that she isn’t perfect.

Helen added to The Telegraph: “Don’t get me wrong, I have my days when I’m p****d off.”

The TV star recently embarked on a new professional venture as she joined the Strictly lineup.

She has been paired with professional dancer Gorka Marquez, who last month reassured her she was “beautiful” and needed to be more confident in herself.

As the pair awaited their scores, he announced: “Everyone believes in you.

“I know you have been having a difficult time and… you may feel like you’re not beautiful or good enough or anything, but if you don’t believe in yourself, I believe in you.”

Strictly host Claudia Winkleman joined in with the praise, echoing: “We all believe in you!”
