Celebrities are beginning to make their stylish appearances at King Charles III’s Coronation, with millions of people across the world tuning in to witness the historical moment the Monarch is crowned at Westminster Abbey.
A number of celebrities are set to attend the ceremony in person, with actress Emma Thompson leading the early arrivals.
King Charles III, 74, is set to be crowned today in a Coronation service at Westminster Abbey that will be attended by royalty and influential politicians from the UK and across the world.
Actress Emma Thompson was one of the first A-listers to arrive at the Central London site alongside her husband Greg Wise, wearing an elegant red coat featuring a stunning rose print.
Nick Cave looked dapper as ever in a classic navy suit, which he paired with a matching vest and tie, as well as a perfectly pressed white shirt.
Australian comedian and presenter Adam Hills also made a stellar appearance in a black suit and tie and was photographed speaking to other guests as they walked together.
Magician Dynamo, real name Steven Frayne, who is an alumni of The Prince’s Trust, was joined by singer-songwriter Kelly Jones, lead singer of the band Stereophonics, on his way to the service.
TV presenting duo Ant and Dec arrived together, with the former joking during their interview with ITV News about their disbelief at the invitation, saying: “Somebody has surely thought it’s our time to be wound up, and this is it.”
Dame Joanna Lumley, 77, was the picture of elegance in a chic monochrome look, consisting of a white-collared black dress and a white hat adorned with a black hat band.
Lionel Richie, 73, appeared in great spirits as he joined other guests in conversation, including the Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan.
The Repair Shop star Jay Blades, 53, whose show featured King Charles III in a special episode aired in October last year, also made a stylish appearance.
Composer Andrew Lloyd Webber could be seen speaking to Labour Party leader Sir Keir Starmer ahead of the much anticipated ceremony.
The legendary composer and lyricist announced last month that he had been in contact with King Charles III in an effort to bring his musical genius to the upcoming Coronation.
He also explained how the golden opportunity arose for him: “I had the good fortune to discuss the text with His Majesty The King. We discussed the writings of Solomon and I suggested adapting Psalm 98 with its message of ‘Make A Joyful Noise unto the Lord, the King.'”
The Psalm in question reads: “Make a joyful noise unto the Lord, all ye lands. Serve the Lord with gladness: come before his presence with singing. Know ye that the Lord he is God: it is he that hath made us, and not we ourselves: we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture.”
Lloyd Webber went on to call his piece of music “appropriate” for the Coronation service.
