Emma Thompson has said she "sniggered" with the Duke of Cambridge when he presented her with her damehood.
The actress received the honour in a ceremony at Buckingham Palace on Wednesday.
She said: "I love Prince William, I’ve known him since he was little, and we just sniggered at each other.
"I said, ‘I can’t kiss you, can I?’ And he said, ‘No don’t’!
It came after the national treasure found herself a mocked up Daily Mirror front page during filming of her latest project.
The actress, 59, is playing celebrity-turned-politician Vivienne Rook in upcoming TV show Years & Years.
The six-parter hits the BBC next year and is from Russell T Davies, whose credits include Doctor Who and Queer as Folk.
The drama follows the Lyons family over 15 years, starting in 2019, as they weather issues including political instability, technological advances and a changing economy.
In one scene, Vivienne looks far less happy as she is led off by security after an incident.
We look forward to seeing the Mirror story for that episode too…
