So yesterday, while everyone was minding their own business and crawling their way towards the weekend, Ellen Pompeo hopped online and delivered an emotional goodbye to Grey’s Anatomy after 19 seasons. Though honestly, her post was a liiiiiittle vague so let’s get into it.
“I am eternally grateful and humbled by the love and support you have all shown me, Meredith GREY and the show for 19 seasons!” Ellen said. “Through it all….none of it …would have been possible without the best fans in the world. You all are RIDERS and you all have made the ride so fun and ICONIC!!”
She continued, “I love you madly and appreciate you right back,” going on to add “This isn’t your first time on the rollercoaster… you know the show must go on and I’ll definitely be back to visit. With a lot of love and immense gratitude XoE 🙏🏼❤️.”

Meanwhile, Grey’s Anatomy creator Shonda Rhimes also hit Instagram, writing, “What a wild ride these past 19 seasons have been. None of it could have been possible without the incomparable @ellenpompeo, the one and only Meredith Grey. In true #greysanatomy fashion…this isn’t a goodbye, it’s a see ya later! Can’t wait to see what’s in store for Ellen, Meredith and Grey Sloan Memorial.”

‘Kay so sounds like Ellen might come back for season 20 IF the show gets one…but also is low-key saying goodbye to her character if it doesn’t? It’s all pretty vague, so I’ll be panicking in a corner if you need me.
