Former Love Island star Dr Alex George made an emotional tribute to his brother Llŷr, who tragically died by suicide in July 2020, to mark World Suicide Prevention Day on Saturday.
The 31 year old turned to Instagram to make a plea to others struggling with mental health and shared a moving video featuring home footage of his brother and snippets of him speaking in his BBC documentary Dr Alex: Our Young Mental Health Crisis.
Alongside the clip he penned: "Today is World Suicide Prevention Day. I'm sat here watching this video, wondering how this ever could have come to pass. Why are you gone? Will I ever see you again? Did I miss an opportunity to save you?" Alex penned underneath the video.
"If you are amongst the darkness, please reach out for help. Always remember, this too shall pass. Samaritans are 24/7 on 116 123.
"Please don't become a memory to your loved ones. The fact 'A Better Day' is being published next week is no accident. Prevention is key, arm young people with the tools. Knowledge and most importantly the words they need.
"I don't want anyone to get the call I did. Given them a copy of my book, it could be the difference."
Llŷr passed away in July 2020 at the age of 19 after battling with mental health troubles.
Since announcing the heartbreaking news of his brother's death, Alex has been determined to help other young people going through mental health struggles and often shares tips and tricks on wellbeing on his Instagram
The former A and E doctor was also appointed a Youth Mental Health Ambassador by former Prime Minister, Boris Johnson.
He's continued to raise awareness for World Suicide Prevention Day and shared an Instagram Story earlier today of a picture of a front door at the house he was at the night of his brother's passing.
"This is the house I was in the night my brother died," he told his followers.
"Not sure why, I just wanted to walk past today. My life changed forever that night."
The star has also recently released a book entitled A Better Day. Your Positive Mental Health Handbook. He told his fans he has put his "heart and soul" into writing this book and says it gives "young people the tools to look after their mental health."
