DaBaby dropped a new single, titled “Lonely,” featuring Lil Wayne on Thursday, September 9.
In the track, DaBaby refers to his older brother Glenn Johnson, who died almost a year ago due to a self-inflicted gunshot wound. He also reflects on his feelings about being an outsider in the music industry.
“As if I got a reason to act like I’m lonely/ I saw my big brother laid out with his brains blown out/ It’s been catchin’ up on me/ S***, how would you act if your bro took his life?/ And you know that you rappin’ like all of these n***s/ And you don’t even trap and you livin’ your life,” DaBaby raps in the song.
The track is the latest release from the rapper, who recently created a huge controversy due to his homophobic comments made at the Rolling Loud Miami festival in July 25.
“Lonely” follows a series of freestyles, including Moneybagg Yo‘s “Wockesha,” Wizkid‘s “Essence,” and BIA‘s “Whole Lotta Money.”
DaBaby had previously collaborated with Wayne on the remix of Jack Harlow‘s “WHATS POPPIN.”
