Cheryl is reportedly set to make a huge career comeback which is said to have sparked a showbiz bidding war – although she's expected to take her career in a different direction from pop music.
The Geordie singer first found fame in TV contest Popstars: The Rivals in 2002, winning a place in Girls Aloud and going on to rack up a string of hits with her group and also in her solo career.
She might not have released any new music for a while now, but Cheryl made a successful pivot into reality show judging with a starring role on The X Factor panel and as a team captain on The Greatest Dancer, and has recently taken a different direction again into acting.
Cheryl made her West End debut this year in Danny Robins' play 2:22 A Ghost Story where she starred alongside EastEnders' Jake Wood from January to April, and is said to have been bitten by the acting bug.
A source told The Sun that the gamble of taking a theatre job had paid off for Cheryl and breathed new life into her career, and that she was keen to give other roles a go.
The source added: "She knows her time as a pop star has come to an end and she openly admits she no longer understands the music industry, but being back on stage was a real buzz for her.
"She loved every minute and wants to get another show under her belt. There are multiple offers on the table so it’s about picking the one that is right for her."
Cheryl clearly loved her time on the West End stage – after her penultimate performance in April, one fan shared a photo of her in tears as she took her bow at the end of the show.
The play is known for taking a chance on big names without leading theatre roles behind them – Cheryl took over her role from Laura Whitmore in the previous cast, and Giovanna Fletcher has also had a starring run in it.
Other big names to have treaded the boards for 2:22 have included Lily Allen, Matt Willis and Mandip Gill.
Cheryl isn't the only member of Girls Aloud to have taken to the West End stage – her bandmate and close friend Kimberley Walsh has appeared as Princess Fiona in Shrek the Musical, as well as taking roles in musicals Big and Sleepless: The Musical which was based on movie classic Sleepless In Seattle.
