Boy George admits Princess Margaret regret after hitting back at ‘tart’ comment

Boy George has revealed the moment he met the late Princess Margaret and described her as “very glamorous, full of it and excited”.

Speaking about the encounter in his new book, Karma: My Autobiography, the 62-year-old recalled meeting the princess at the London Hilton and shaking hands with her.

“Afterwards she was heard to say, ‘Who’s that Boy George? He looks like an over-made-up tart,'” he recalled.

“I snapped back in the press and had T-shirts made of Princess Margaret’s face on my body with my hat and ribbons with the words, ‘I’m not a tart’.”

However much later on, Boy George met the son of Princess Margaret whilst having dinner.

George wrote: “‘It must have been Carol Decker,’ I said. ‘Although I don’t think she wears as much make-up as me’.”

“I actually loved Princess Margaret,” he added. “She was my type of royal, very glamorous, full of it and excited.”
