Stephen Mulhern fronts new SNT show while Ant McPartlin returns from booze hell

Stephen Mulhern will be launching his own In For A Penny spinoff show while Ant McPartlin recovers from his drink-drive shame and booze and addiction issues.

The telly personality, who guest presents on Ant And Dec’s Saturday Night Takeaway, will be returning to ITV next spring to front his own series

And Mirror Online can exclusively reveal that Ant’s ex-wife Lisa Armstrong has landed a plum role on IFAP, which has already wrapped filming in Cardiff.

Lisa was chief makeup artist for the show, working closely with Stephen and the other team to make them screen-ready.

And while Ant wasn’t directly involved in the filming of the show, he’ll still be making money from it because it’s his and Dec’s production company that are making In For A Penny – something that surprised Lisa’s pals when she first signed up to work on it.

Stephen revealed the details of his new spinoff on Good Morning Britain, donning his signature spangly gold jacket to test Richard Madeley, Kate Garraway and Charlotte Hawkins on their time-keeping skills

"In For A Penny, In For A Grand – look, this is the idea of Ant and Dec, this is not my idea," Stephen revealed.

"They came up with it, we did it on Saturday Night Takeaway. Thank goodness it went down well, we’ve spent the last six months recording it.

"It’s celebrating the Great British public and you can win £1,000. I think people forget how much a thousand pounds means to people – you’ve got shows like Who Wants To Be A Millionaire where you can win huge amounts of money, but one grand to give to somebody, you see their reaction. And it’s tax-free! Along the way we have a good laugh," he added.

As things stand with Ant’s recovery, it’s unclear when Saturday Night Takeaway will be back on screens.

With In For A Penny due to launch in March 2019, it may be that SNT doesn’t return for yet another year – and Bradley Walsh is set to take over the SNT slot with a new chat show called It’s Showtime next spring.

It’s Showtime will be full of big celebrity guests, studio games and live music.

The format will be similar to another ITV talk show, The Jonathan Ross Show, but will have The Chase presenter in the hotseat.
