Kohli passes Sourav as India defeat West Indies
Virat Kohli scored 120, Bhuvneshwar Kumar picked up four wickets and India won the second ODI against West Indies by 59 runs (DLS method) to take a 1-0 lead in the three-match series.
Kohli’s knock allowed him to pass Sourav Ganguly’s ODI tally and go second in India’s run scorers list in the format, behind only Sachin Tendulkar.
PSG begin title defence with win
Paris Saint-Germain began their Ligue 1 title defence with an easy 3-0 victory over Nimes. A controversial penalty by Edinson Cavani and goals from Kylian Mbappe and Angel di Maria completed a comfortable win for the defending champions.
It wasn’t all smooth for PSG though as crowd vented their displeasure towards Neymar, whose future with the club still remains uncertain.
Nadal, Andreescu crowned champions at Rogers Cup
Rafael Nadal dominated Daniil Medvedev, defeating him 6-3, 6-0 in the final to win the Rogers Cup in Montreal.
In the women’s event played simultaneously at Toronto, teenager Bianca Andreescu became the first Canadian to win the title since 1969 when Serena Williams pulled out with an injury while trailing 1-3 in the first set.
Both Nadal and Andreescu, however, pulled out of the Cincinnati Open to preserve themselves for the upcoming US Open.
