Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday dedicated AIIMS, Delhi’s – National Cancer Institute, Jhajjar (NCI) to the country.
Built at ₹2035 crores, NCI is the largest investment by the Government in a single hospital project and holds the unique distinction of being one of the mega healthcare project to be completed in a record time of 3 years from the 1st shovel to the 1st patient.
According to a release issued by AIIMS, Delhi, NCI will have 710 patient care beds dedicated for cancer prevention, treatment, research & education. “Of these 250 beds have been operationalised and remaining beds will be operationalised in a phased manner over the next two years in sync with the incremental growth in patient load therein,’’ the release noted.
NCI is to be equipped with cutting edge technology including —– 25 Operation Theatres, 5 Linear Accelerators, 4 PET Scanners, 3 Brachy-therapy, 2 CT Scanners, 2 MRI Scanners and much more.
“NCI will also have the 1st Public Sector Proton Facility of the Country which will be a new paradigm in the treatment of cancer patients,’’ noted the release.
