Vicky Kaushal on replacing Shah Rukh in Rakesh Sharma biopic: Wait for the official announcement

Shah Rukh Khan left a major spot to replace when he walked out of Rakesh Sharma’s biopic titled Saare Jahaan Se Achcha. While it may not have been an easy choice, the makers of the space biopic have finally zeroed in on Uri actor, Vicky Kaushal. According to a Bollywood Hungama report, when Vicky Kaushal was asked about being cast in Saare Jahaan Se Achcha, the actor gave an ambiguous reply. Vicky reportedly did not accept or deny being offered the film, rather stated that everyone should wait for an official announcement of the movie, which will be made soon.

Saare Jahaan Se Achcha has been through a whole lot of highs and lows, after Aamir Khan walking out of the project, Shah Rukh Khan stepped in to play the celebrated astronaut. However after Zero bombed at the box office, SRK was reported to have dropped out of Saare Jahaan Se Achcha. The writer of Rakesh Sharma biopic, Anjum Rajabali was quoted in Indian Express, stating that Zero debacle could have affected SRK’s decision, he said, “I don’t think he said no to Saare Jahan Se Achcha because of the space (angle). I think he is also pretty shaken up. He was banking a lot on that.”

Interestingly, new-age actors like Kartik Aaryan, Rajkummar Rao and Vicky Kaushal were associated with the project. But seems like Vicky Kaushal has bagged this plum project. After the massive success of Uri: The Surgical Strike, Vicky Kaushal has started work on Udham Singh biopic, which is directed by Shoojit Sircar. It was rumoured that Sara Ali Khan has been approached to a play part in Udham Singh biopic, however there has been no confirmation.

Vicky will also be seen in Karan Johar’s Takht, which boasts of an ensemble cast comprising of Ranveer Singh, Alia Bhatt, Janhvi Kapoor, Kareena Kapoor Khan and Bhumi Pednekar.
