“Empire” creator Lee Daniels filed a lawsuit in Manhattan on Thursday to get out of Roc-A-Fella Records co-founder Damon Dash’s baby-mama drama.
In November, Daniels secretly settled a $2 million dispute with Dash over claims that Daniels cut him out of producer credits and profits. Daniels agreed to pay the undisclosed settlement sum in installments.
But two women who have children with Dash — Rachel Roy and Cindy Morales — claimed in a restraining notice that the payments should go to them because he is so far behind on his child-support payments.
In his Manhattan Supreme Court suit, Daniels says he is happy to put the payment into an escrow account until the beef between the three is settled.
Daniels’ next payment to Dash is due Friday, so he asked the court to excuse him from any legal liability from Roy, Morales and Dash if he misses the payment.
A representative for Dash could not be reached on Thursday.
