Jurgen Klopp described Pep Guardiola as the best coach in the world when asked who he prefers between the Spaniard and Jose Mourinho .
The Liverpool boss has had the pleasure of facing both coaches in the Premier League over the past two years, and of course regularly came up against Guardiola in the Bundesliga.
Both Manchester managers have contrasting styles, with the the Spaniard’s guiding Manchester City to a Premier League title last season.
Mourinho has often been accused of parking the bus and, despite leading Manchester United to a second place finish with 81 points last term, his side currently sit eighth in the league.
When asked who Klopp prefers in a quickfire Q&A with Sky Germany, Klopp responded: "Pep Guardiola."
Clarifying his choice, Klopp added: "It’s not about better.
"I think Pep is the best coach in the world.
"So you could have asked me any other name.
"It’s not about a comparison with Jose, Pep is doing alright."
The German will no doubt be in a good mood following Sadio Mane’s decision to extend his contract with Liverpool.
The Reds forward has agreed a new deal that will see him committed to the club until at least 2023.
"This is a big boost for everyone and another demonstration of how the players we have at this club are committed, not just to our present but our future also," said Klopp.
"I can’t think of a single club anywhere in Europe that wouldn’t want a player like Sadio available to them, so the fact he wants to remain with us says something about where we are currently."
