Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif are all set to enthral the audience this Eid with Bharat and the wait seems even longer now. The film Bharat, which is being directed by Ali Abbas Zafar, has been in the news ever since its inception and seems like the buzz is only growing stronger by the second, especially after the kickass trailer. Like that wasn’t enough, the makers dropped the songs, which are topping the charts as we speak, and we can’t wait for more.
Bharat song Ishqe-Di-Chashni: Salman Khan-Katrina Kaif’s love ballad is a visual treat for all fans
The ambitious film will be set across several decades and will show Salman Khan’s character in various avatars and needless to say, it will be a sight to see Salman doing the grey. That and his crackling chemistry with Katrina Kaif that has come through and how! Having said that, it still takes us a minute to render that alongside the fact that it could have been Priyanka Chopra instead of Katrina Kaif if she hadn’t taken up Jonas as her surname (not that we are unhappy that she did). But it seems, unlike reports, PeeCee did not walk out of Bharat. At least that’s what helmer Ali Abbas Zafar has to say. In an exclusive interview with us, Ali revealed that Priyanka would have still been a part of Bharat but then the dates would have been compromised.
Speaking candidly about the same, he said, “It was not a walkout. She (Priyanka Chopra) is a very close friend, we are still very close…Just that when she told us, we were in the middle of production and she said if I go ahead doing the film with this thing (her marriage to Nick Jonas) still happening, the dates will go for a toss.” When we asked further asked if she wanted to do the film, still, Ali reinstated, “Yeah.”
“We had to take a decision because then (otherwise) we won’t have been able to make the Eid release. And with such films, where so much money is riding, you really have to work backwards of the release date. So, if she would have been in the film, maybe I’d still have been shooting. But there’s only love between us,” he added. So now, you know! Well, while that is that, we are just happy Eid looks better for us and all the other fans out there.
Meanwhile, Kat who has already impressed us all with her curls, charm and chaste Hindi had recently said, “Atul has always been very supportive and really wanted me to do the film. And in the end, that’s what happened. Yes, Salman and I share great chemistry, but when I walked onto this set, I was very clear that the script demanded a different kind of dynamics between us and I had to maintain it.”
The Zero actress had gone ahead to say, “Although I wasn’t Ali’s first choice and it was Priyanka (Chopra), I’m happy it has come to me. When I read the character of Kumud, I felt there’s so much I can do in it and I wanted to immerse myself completely into it. I just hope that I keep getting to play such exciting characters which have enough meat in them.”
Jointly produced by Salman Khan, Atul Agnihotri and Bhushan Kumar, Bharat releases on June 5.
