Ariana Grande Name-Drops Her Exes—Including Pete Davidson—in 'Thank U, Next'

Ariana Grande and Pete Davidson’s quick engagement and subsequent break-up has been highly publicized, so it’s unsurprising that the “God Is a Woman” singer would write a new song inspired by her relationship.

Dropping her new single right before ex-boyfriend Davidson’s show, Saturday Night Live, aired, Grande addressed all of her famous exes by name in “thank u, next.” As well as giving Davidson a shout-out in the song, Grande also references Mac Miller, Big Sean, and Ricky Alvarez.

But rather than being a diss track, or saying anything negative about any of the people she’s dated, Grande’s new single is a thankful anthem. Exploring what she learnt from each relationship, the singer explains that she’s currently in a relationship with herself, taking all of those lessons with her.

Just after the song dropped, Davidson appeared on Saturday Night Live, where he briefly addressed the break-up. The comedian said, “The truth is, it’s nobody’s business. Sometimes things just don’t work out. She’s a wonderful, strong person and I wish her all the happiness in the world.”

Here, the lyrics of Grande’s new single, “thank u, next”:
