Located in: Los Angeles, California.

Cost per night: The luxury hotel’s most basic rooms start at $463 a night. And at that price, the word “basic” doesn’t really apply. On the other end of the scale, the Beverly Hills Hotel also requires a formal enquiry before they’ll divulge the cost of their most expensive rooms (in this case, the Presidential Bungalow).

Which royals stayed here: Most notably, Prince William and Kate Middleton stayed here during their first tour of the United States in 2011, specifically to attend Variety‘s Venture Capital and New Media Summit. Princess Margaret, Lord Snowden, and Prince Albert II of Monaco have also been guests.

The iconic Los Angeles hotel is so dedicated to luxury, it’s even committed to pampering the pets of guests with its puppy program. If they pamper pets, you can only imagine how they treat royalty.

Located in: Queenstown, New Zealand.

Cost per night: The most royal accommodation at the lodge is definitely the four-bedroom Owner’s Cottage, but the price tag is basically a queen’s ransom—NZ $14,500 (about $9,500 USD) a night. Basic lodge rooms start at NZ $695 (about $455 USD) a night.

Which royal stayed here: Prince William, Kate Middleton, and Prince George all traveled together for a tour of Australia and New Zealand in 2014. Will and Kate stayed in the Owner’s Cottage (duh), which has insane amenities like a private balcony with infinity edge Jacuzzi.

The trip marked Will and Kate’s first night away from George, who skipped the Matakauri, staying with a nanny at Government House in Wellington.

Cost per night: Currently priceless (the hotel is closed for renovations).

Which royal has stayed here: The Queen Mother visited in 1954 and then, three years later, Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip stayed there during their first visit to America.

A very fancy banquet was held for the royals in the Grand Ballroom to mark the occasion–and the hotel apparently had to scramble to create a royal suite for Her Majesty. Because, OFC, you need a royal suite for the Queen!

Which royal has stayed here: Queen Elizabeth, along with a slew of other royals, including her mother and father and her grandson, Prince Harry and his wife, Meghan Markle.

The Queen has stayed at the Fairmont Royal York on all her trips to Toronto and always in the same accommodations—a 16th-floor, two-bedroom suite.

Other royals who have stayed at the Fairmont Empress include Prince Edward, Prince Charles and both his wives, Princess Diana (who was reportedly a huge fan of the hotel’s rose tea), and Camilla Parker Bowles.

The hotel has also made its own tea-infused gin, just FYI, which is as naturally purple as the twilight sky over the hotel.

Cost per night: Rooms at The Majestic (formerly known as The Ahwahnee Hotel) start at around $443 a night, and go up to $1295. In other words, this grand hotel gives new meaning to the term glamping.

Which royal has stayed here: The Queen stayed at The Majestic during a 1983 tour of the U.S. west coast, in the Mary Curry Tresidder Junior Suite, which has been known as The Queen’s Room since her stay. (In case you’re wondering, booking a night in the bed Elizabeth slept in starts at $575 a night—although they’ve probably changed the mattress).

The Queen might have slept in the Queen’s Room, but she had the run of the hotel during her stay. As in, she literally “closed down the whole hotel; she was the only one staying here,” General Manager Brett Archer explained in a 2014 interview.

And he actually stayed here on his way to officially being named the Prince of Wales himself in 1958.

His namesake suite is the largest in the entire castle, occupying an entire floor of a tower, and with a grand King-sized bed as its centerpiece. It also includes a “luxurious double bath surrounded by mirrors, leather surfaces and cushions.”

Located in: North Island, The Seychelles.

Cost per night: You’ll need access to a royal bankroll to afford this one. In 2018, the cheaper villas were available for €6,127 a night, while the coveted Villa North Island is currently priced at €9,644 a night. And, if you’re planning to bring the family, know that the resort charges extra (€672 a night) for older teens staying in the villas’ second bedrooms. Cheeky!

Which royal stayed here: Prince William and Kate Middleton spent 10 days in this paradise for their honeymoon in 2011. There are only 11 villas on the whole island, which means that, even if the resort is fully booked, you’ll feel like you’re on a private island. The resort promises that “your footprints will be the only evidence on the island’s vast, untouched beaches.”

The Half Moon is also a favorite among America’s unofficial royal family, the Kennedys. The Kennedy family apparently spent a whole month at the Half Moon before John F. Kennedy was inaugurated as president. Ready for an especially cool tidbit? A copy of one of Mrs. Kennedy’s handwritten wills hangs in the main lobby of the hotel.
